Welcome to CBC St Kilda, a reimagined Catholic school for girls and boys in central Melbourne. Passionate about learning, we have been educating boys in the tradition of Edmund Rice since 1878. Welcoming girls into this tradition in 2021, we are envisioning new ways of learning for a new generation.
I look forward to leading our community into this exciting future. It is a unique opportunity to reimagine what we have, creating something new across two adjacent historic sites, built on the best of our existing culture, inspired by the charisms of the Presentation Sisters and Blessed Edmund Rice.
CBC St Kilda provides a caring and supportive environment where every student has a place, a voice and their story is known. Innovative learning and wellbeing programs, aligned with mutually respectful relationships, enable each student’s intrinsic worth to shine. Preparing students for life beyond school, programs and pathways enable students of diverse abilities and interests to step purposefully into their future.
“The heart of education is the education of the heart” Bishop Greg O’Kelly SJ
CBC St Kilda educates the hearts of young people – to work with and walk alongside those at the margins, to grow in empathy and to respond in faith and action. Students are challenged and empowered to build a just world for all through our immersions, service learning and formation.
We partner with our families to instil a deep sense of respect, justice and belonging in our students that transcends the four walls of a classroom. Everything we do to teach and support students is built upon the fabric of love, values, beliefs and habits each family instils throughout their child’s life. At CBC, we warmly welcome the involvement of parents and families in our school community.
Ours is an exciting future. A future in which girls and boys work, play and adventure together. An environment enlivened by respect, excellence, enquiry, challenge and fun. A community that develops the skills and confidence for girls and boys to flourish in life beyond the school gates, understanding the work environment of the future and the need to be flexible, dynamic learners who will thrive in complex and rapidly changing situations. Girls and boys working side by side, guided by enduring values embedded in our charism, lived every day at CBC.
We are busy getting ready – reimagining, planning, consulting, exploring, and ensuring that the very best academic, pastoral, spiritual and co-curricular outcomes are available to all students. Working parties are preparing our infrastructure, renewing our wellbeing and learning programs, and reimagining our identity. We are working closely with young people, parents, our Parish, our staff and wider community for an inclusive, innovative and liberating education.
I warmly invite new families to join us and become part of our school community. This website provides an introduction to CBC St Kilda but the best way to discover what makes our school special is for you to visit us. Please contact our Registrar Oonagh Caldwell on 9529 6611 to book a time.
